Audi Service and Repair in Brisbane

CBD Auto is an independent workshop at 50 Caswell St, East Brisbane, servicing and repairing Audi vehicles for owners across the inner-eastern suburbs and the wider Brisbane area. We look after scheduled logbook servicing, fault diagnosis and mechanical repair across the A, Q, S and RS ranges — from a daily-driven A3 or Q5 still inside its warranty period through to older TFSI and TDI models that have long since moved out of dealer care.

Audi work rewards familiarity with the specific car in front of you. The 2.0 TFSI engine family alone has run through several generations, each with its own timing arrangement, injection system and oil-control behaviour, and the right answer for a 2011 A4 is often the wrong one for a 2022 model.

If your Audi is due for a service, showing a warning light, or you want a second opinion on a dealer quote, call 07 3391 3811 or email admin@cbdauto.com.au with your model, year and symptoms. We confirm the scope and quote before any work begins.

Audi Servicing in East Brisbane

Audi Australia publishes a fixed schedule for current models: a scheduled service every 12 months or 15,000 km, whichever comes first, with vehicles built before MY2017 referred to their own Audi Service Schedule booklet. That fixed regime is a useful starting point, but it is only part of the maintenance picture. A number of Audi service items are triggered by time or by a separate distance figure, and those are the ones that quietly get missed.

Service item

Audi Australia published interval

Engine oil change service

12 months / 15,000 km

Inspection with oil change

24 months / 30,000 km

Brake fluid

24 months, regardless of distance

Dust and pollen (cabin) filter

24 months / 30,000 km

Spark plugs (TFSI petrol)

60,000 km / 72 months

S tronic gearbox oil

60,000 km on most models; 120,000 km on RS3, Q2 and SQ2

Haldex coupling oil (transverse quattro)

36 months, time-based

Toothed timing belt, where fitted

120,000 km

Intervals vary by model year, engine and market, so we confirm the schedule against your VIN rather than assuming. Two points are worth understanding as an owner.

The first is the time-based items. Brake fluid is hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture from the air, which lowers its boiling point — and Audi’s 24-month change is set by the calendar, not the odometer. Haldex coupling oil on transverse quattro models is the same: a 36-month item with no distance trigger at all. A low-kilometre A3 that only covers 6,000 km a year can be perfectly up to date on oil services and years overdue on both.

The second is fixed versus flexible servicing. Australian-delivered Audis run the fixed schedule above, but European-delivered and privately imported cars are sometimes coded to the flexible LongLife regime, which calculates its own service distance and expects a different oil specification. We check the coding rather than taking the dash reading at face value.

For general scheduled work, our car service page covers what a standard service includes.

Audi Repair and Maintenance Services

CBD Auto works on Audi vehicles across the mechanical and electrical side of the workshop:

  • Logbook and scheduled servicing to the manufacturer schedule, with OEM-quality parts
  • Engine diagnostics and repairs, including fault-code investigation and drivability faults
  • Brake and suspension repair — pads, discs, wear sensors, bushes, dampers and steering components
  • Cooling system work: water pump and thermostat housing replacement, pressure testing, hoses and radiators
  • Air conditioning service — CBD Auto is Arctick authorised
  • Battery testing and replacement, including coding where the vehicle requires it
  • S tronic and DSG fluid and filter services at the specified interval
  • Timing belt replacement on belt-driven TDI and smaller TFSI engines
  • Pre-purchase inspections on used Audi models
  • Business vehicles through our fleet maintenance programs

Common Audi Problems We Can Diagnose

Audi models are not uniform, and neither are their weak points. The items below are well documented, but each belongs to a particular engine family and build period. A symptom can also have several causes, so we diagnose before recommending a repair rather than working from a reputation.

Timing chain tensioner rattle — EA888 Gen 1 and early Gen 2 (roughly 2007 to 2011)

A brief rattle on cold start-up, lasting a second or two, is the classic indicator of a tensioner that isn’t holding chain tension. Revised tensioner designs were introduced during Gen 2 production, and Gen 3 engines are substantially less affected. Note that the earlier EA113 2.0 TFSI, used in the B7 A4 and 8P S3, runs a timing belt rather than a chain — a different job entirely.

Water pump and thermostat housing leaks — EA888, particularly Gen 2 and Gen 3

The composite pump and thermostat module is a known wear item. Cracked housings and degraded impellers cause slow coolant loss, erratic temperature readings and, if ignored, overheating. On an out-of-warranty A4 or Q5 this is one of the more common reasons a car arrives here, and the leak is often small enough that nothing shows on the driveway — which is why we pressure-test rather than rely on a visual check.

Oil consumption — earlier EA888 engines

Higher-than-expected oil use is commonly attributed to piston rings, but a split PCV diaphragm in the valve cover is a much cheaper and very common cause of the same symptom. Measuring consumption properly and testing crankcase pressure comes before any assumption about internal engine wear.

Carbon build-up on intake valves — direct-injection-only TFSI and FSI engines

On these engines the fuel bypasses the intake valves entirely, so oil vapour and exhaust residue accumulate on them over time. A rough cold idle, hesitation and worse economy on a car past roughly 70,000 km is the usual presentation, and media blasting is the remedy. We inspect before recommending it — later engines with combined port and direct injection build deposits far more slowly and frequently never need the job at all.

S tronic and DSG behaviour

Juddering at low speed, harsh engagement or a gearbox dropping into limp mode usually points to the mechatronic unit and its solenoids. Fluid and filter service at the specified interval is the single most effective preventive step, and it is frequently overdue on cars bought second-hand.

Diverter valve and boost faults

A torn diverter valve diaphragm causes boost loss, flat performance and limp mode, and is often mistaken for a turbo problem.

Electrical and body items

MMI and control-module faults, rear light cluster failures, and blocked panoramic sunroof drains — the last matters in Brisbane, where a blocked drain during storm season puts water into the headlining and footwell wiring.

Audi Diagnostics

Modern Audi vehicles run dozens of networked control modules, and a single dashboard warning can originate several systems away from where the symptom appears. A generic code reader will usually return a powertrain code and nothing else. Proper diagnosis means interrogating every module, reading freeze-frame and live data, and testing the circuit rather than replacing the part the code names.

Our diagnostic work on Audi covers:

  • Full fault-code scanning across engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, comfort and infotainment modules
  • Engine management faults: misfires, fuel trim deviation, boost and charge-pressure control, cam and crank correlation
  • S tronic and transmission fault investigation, including adaptation values
  • Electrical and comfort-system diagnosis, including MMI faults, parasitic drain and module communication errors
  • Intermittent faults, using stored data and live logging rather than guesswork

Where a repair needs manufacturer technical information, independent Australian repairers can purchase it under the national motor vehicle service and repair information sharing scheme, which commenced on 1 July 2022 and covers passenger and light goods vehicles built on or after 1 January 2002.

Audi Models We Service

We service the Audi range commonly found on Brisbane roads, both current and older:

  • A range: A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8
  • Q range: Q2, Q3, Q5, Q7, Q8
  • Performance models: S3, S4, S5, SQ5, RS3 and related S and RS variants
  • Coupé and convertible: TT, TTS, TT RS
  • Engines: 1.4 and 2.0 TFSI, 2.5 five-cylinder TFSI, 3.0 V6 TFSI and TDI, 2.0 TDI
  • Drivetrains: front-wheel drive, Haldex-based quattro on transverse models, and Torsen or crown-gear centre differential quattro on longitudinal models

If you own a model not listed, call us with the year and engine and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s work we’re set up for.

Why Choose CBD Auto for Audi Service in East Brisbane?

  • An independent workshop with European experience. Audi sits inside our everyday workload alongside BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Land Rover, rather than being an occasional job.
  • Manufacturer-grade diagnostic equipment and OEM-quality parts as standard.
  • Repco Authorised Service workshop, with technicians on continuous training through the Repco Auto Tech program.
  • Arctick authorised for air conditioning work.
  • A quote before the work, with approval sought before any additional repairs found during a service.
  • Warranty-safe servicing. Under the Australian Consumer Law your consumer guarantees apply whoever services the car — the ACCC’s position is that a vehicle does not have to be dealer-serviced for those guarantees to apply, and they cannot be signed away by a warranty or contract. Our part is to follow Audi’s schedule, use correct-specification parts and fluids and document the work — and if a repair of ours causes a fault, that is ours to put right. A pre-purchased Audi service plan is a separate commercial contract worth reading before you switch.
  • Plain explanations. You get told what the fault is, what caused it, and which repairs are urgent versus which can wait.

Audi Service Near East Brisbane

CBD Auto is at 50 Caswell St, East Brisbane — a few minutes from the Gabba and a short run across the Story Bridge from the northern side of the river. The workshop is convenient for Audi owners in Woolloongabba, Kangaroo Point, Norman Park, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Greenslopes, New Farm and the Brisbane CBD.

Early drop-off on the way into the city suits most people — we open at 7:00 am, Monday to Friday, with Saturday appointments available on request.

When Should You Book an Audi Service?

Book a service or an inspection if you notice:

  • A service interval message, spanner symbol, or any amber or red warning light
  • A rattle on cold start-up, particularly on an older 2.0 TFSI
  • Coolant loss, a sweet smell after driving, or a temperature gauge that moves around
  • Rough idle, hesitation, or a noticeable drop in fuel economy
  • Juddering, harsh shifts or delayed engagement from an S tronic gearbox
  • Brake vibration, or a squeal that has become a grind
  • Knocking or clunking over bumps, or a change in steering feel
  • Oil spots on the driveway or a burning smell after a drive
  • Slow cranking, or the car needing a jump start
  • Air conditioning that no longer cools properly through a Brisbane summer

If the temperature warning comes on or you lose coolant quickly, stop and call rather than driving on. Overheating an aluminium engine turns a manageable repair into a serious one.

Audi Service FAQs

Q. Where can I find an Audi mechanic in East Brisbane?

A. CBD Auto services Audi vehicles from 50 Caswell St, East Brisbane QLD 4169. Call 07 3391 3811 or email admin@cbdauto.com.au to book.

Q. How often should my Audi be serviced?

A. Audi Australia’s published schedule for current models is 12 months or 15,000 km, whichever comes first, with additional items at longer intervals. Vehicles built before MY2017 follow their own service schedule booklet. We check the correct schedule against your VIN.

Q. Can an independent workshop service my Audi without affecting my warranty?

A. Yes. The ACCC’s position is that a vehicle does not need to be dealer-serviced for your consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law to apply, and those guarantees cannot be removed by a warranty or contract. The servicing still has to follow Audi’s schedule, use correct-specification parts and fluids and be properly recorded. A pre-purchased dealer service plan is a separate contract, usually redeemable only at a dealership.

Q. What does an Audi logbook service include?

A. Typically an engine oil and filter change, any filters due at that interval, a brake inspection, fluid checks and top-ups, tyre condition and pressure checks, a road test and multi-point inspection, plus a diagnostic scan and service interval display reset. What is due depends on the model and interval reached.

Q. Does my quattro need a Haldex service?

A. It depends on the model. Transverse quattro models — A3, S3, RS3, Q2, Q3 and TT — use a Haldex coupling, and Audi specifies its oil at 36 months on a time basis. Longitudinal quattro models such as the A4, A5, A6, Q5 and Q7 use a Torsen or crown-gear centre differential instead and do not have a Haldex unit.

Q. How much does an Audi service cost?

A. It depends on the model, the engine, which interval the car has reached and whether any repairs are identified. A minor oil service and a major inspection with spark plugs and a gearbox oil change are very different jobs. Call with your model, year and odometer reading and we’ll quote before starting.

Q. My Audi is using oil. Does it need an engine rebuild?

A. Not necessarily. A split PCV diaphragm in the valve cover produces the same symptom as worn piston rings and is a far smaller job. We measure consumption and test crankcase pressure before drawing any conclusion about internal wear.
